We are poor as shit so it feels a bit slavish and gruelling that we have to work so hard everyday for almost nothing, ya know, just to barely get by and the evil corporations employ all these disgusting people online and in pig-media to lie to boomers and middle class property owners about how great the economy is, but only for the top twenty percent, ya know? Minimum wage is still seven dollars in some states and a frozen pizza where I live is $9. it’s fucked up, living like feudal serfs having to jump and run to please all the Amazon ordering got-mine haves on the hill or become at risk of being homeless again. If you’re a parent, you just have to grind and grind to keep everybody inside together. It creates too much friction and tension for any struggling family. It’s fucked up and I still hear some echoes of a filthy rich, perpetually smiley former in law lady gloating in her sing song school teacher voice about how “life’s not fair”. It’s hard not to hate the gloating haves who married into wealth or inherited their tuition the old fashioned way. Hate just poisons the heart though, so you gotta find ways to let that shit go. My way is drinking and listening to old new wave but I rarely get the chance, I’m always on the clock.
Woke up at 5:55 this morning, was having some crazy dreams of bears, A.I. school buses and a Chinese gang assassin on a ten speed with a switchblade murdering an old punk rocker by order of a rival mafiosi glam singer who looked like Elvis Presley. More lists of shit I don’t wanna do today, what I do wanna do is get in front of a microphone and sing these songs I wrote so they’re at least recorded before I die, I’ve been involved in cleaning out an old cowboy cabin and ancient R.V. compound where a hippie screenwriter lived this past year and it kinda breaks my heart he had no real family and his one living sister did not take the art he left behind, I’m still sifting through the remnants of some of it and wearing his black skull scarf to represent a bit of him. It’s a cold world, baby. His coffee cup sits on my desk here-it sez, “don’t take life so seriously-it’s not permanent..” and just like that, the dude is gone.
