All hands on deck! We, the people need everyone’s help to fight against the imperial narratives and resist the war machine. Everybody on the left, the entire antiwar movement are being censored again on every platform by the Man. Important voices like Ben Norton and Ray McGovern. All the people think USA USA gives a shit about Ukrainian or Palestinian lives or protecting nature or keeping us healthy, or telling the truth about anything ever. I kinda been so bummed out about all the people I meet on the street uncritically rah rah supporting wars based on threadbare, transparent old devil lies and obediently parroting establishment propaganda. Kinda gets me down, that’s when I start digging through old boxes looking for tapes I aint sick of, or flipping through all the Netflix and Amazon Prime garbage looking for some kinda distracting entertainment options. Aint found much in the way of quality music lately but did see some pretty good rock docs lately.
During the public radio/Starbucks/”No Depression” era, I was in the midwest eating shit and did not resonate with that much faux country made by wealthier college graduates. I was selling off all my old Hank Williams lp’s to the ripoff record store in some vain attempt to keep the lights on while all the yuppies were putting Pabst Blue Ribbon stickers on their brand new yeehaw trucks. Saw a good documentary about Jay Bennet who was this cool musician nerd eccentric involved with Wilco and that Mermaid Ave. tribute to Woody Guthrie-he was mainly a guitar player/songwriter kinda like a Mike Campbell/Bob Stinson kinda mad scientist guy but also a real talented power pop sonic layered studio geek ala Emmitt Rhoades or Chris Bell or Brian Wilson. He had a low baritone like Mark Lanegan. He became too important to Wilco during their peak hours art rock phase and got kicked out by gentrified bruncher saint Jeff Tweety and went on a spiral end ended up dead, I always thought he was a real cool character though sometimes his production was a bit too dense for my taste. I always thought Wilco were like rich kid Replacements-they just seemed to have too much money and ended up more like a Sheryl Crow or Countiong Crows for rich college white people. Rock critics band. I do love some Wilco songs though, including “So Misunderstood”, which even quotes my lyric hero, Peter Laughner.

The Descendents/All documentary is really enjoyable cause it transports me back to a way more attainable and spontaneous D.I.Y. punk rock era when all the older brothers and sisters had gone away to college and were sending us home mixtapes from their big city record stores. My suburbanite peer group’s older siblings were all into the Descendents and somma my age group were already following hardcore and Oi and DC straight edge while I was still neek deep in my goth era that I never fully abandoned. They made really catchy pop songs like the Beatles and Beach Boys and Ramones that influenced all those Lookout Records and O.C. nineties pop/punk bands that weren’t my thing, but a couple things that stayed with me was how driven and ambitious Bill the drummer has always been, he is a total perfectionsit workaholic who also played in Black Flag, but that’s part of what allowed them to overcome so many lineup changes. They were one of the bands that made it seem possible and even desirable to wanna mann produce a couple boxes of black t shirts, original records, get in the van, and tour from state to state playing basment parties and punk rock record stores for beer and gas money. People look at me like a wildeyed crazy lunatic cause I just continued to live the way we used to live even without the bandmates or black van.

Everybody I know is either seized by the Big Fear from all the nonstop corporate media programming, or in a total adverstising climb the pyramid hypnospell only talking to me about their property, their popularity, their local prestige or backstage VIP room laminate and third hand association with someone powerful and I really can’t identify with any of that. I’ve found myself in rooms with people on I-phones for hours, texting away to someone far away and I rarely have anybody who will look me in the eyes. In my town on an old lamppost is a NO WAR sticker but it’s probably over twenty years old, nobody cares about sanctity of human life-they’re all too twisted up with labels and flags and pro nouns and hometeam sports colors. Media manufactures consent for genocide everyday and we’re just expected to all shut up and hut two blindly goosestep into WW3 and say it’s for some noble causes, but it never is, it’s always just for rich men’s weapons of war profiteering and oil and lithium and opium, what the elite call the devil’s chessboard-same as it ever was. I just wanna drink some Andre Cold Duck champagne and lose myself in all the old ONLY ONES songs but Cold Duck’s about a three mile walk into town and costs about eight bucks now.
Ain’t no Kinkos where I live, aint no record stores, aint even Chipotle. One ripoff bookstore in the overpriced tourist trap district got a book about The Beats years ago, and also that big expensive pink book by the Clash but I can’t pay collector’s prices for nothin’. Used to contribute to some online zines but ya know how they come and go. I dedicated hundred of hours interviewing performers and shit and it was all gone in a blip. Website people lose interest, it is rarely profitable cause web hosts charge so much, you know, it’s the tech censorship internet social control Metaverse. So yeah a few eeks back I got the old Mel Bay book back out again and tried making those hard to form chords with my disfigured hands but no dice, really, still can’t play guitar worth shit. I got an old rhythm guitar songwriter buddy I’m endeavoring to renite with but we are both kinda trapped in different parts of the control and just don’t have the money or mobility to jeopardize our limited war economy so called stability at the bottom of the billionaire owned total spectrum dominated death culture society. Talked to a couple differnt local eccentrics about getting together to collaborate on some recording projects but they both flaked and I’m basically always busy raising a kid anyways. I go walkin’ somedays in the dangerous desert-the guy who runs the pump you up weightlfiting gym picked me up on the side of the road in his big Terminator Hummer the other day and was tellin’ me that this is his town. I aint trying to integrate into the yuppie hipster airbandb culture at all, can’t even relate to the moneymakers always telling me about the money they’re making. That is really the only conversation anybody wants to have here. The world is at war, mostly based on the usual weapon maker/shady billionaire bullshit lies, false flags, proxy wars and fabrications, but no one I talk to on the phone has any awareness of any of it beyond the standard pro war rah rah, blood thrsty flag waving. The political candidates all seem impossibly cowardly and controlled and in lockstep with marketing slogans and smiley wallpaper that only ever benfits the already excessively powerful while still mentioning words like free press and democracy. Assange is still locked up in the belly of Belmarsh for embarrassing the evil empire. Think about how infrequently the middle class social climbing hipster airbandb owning collector class even mention him in all their famous people online fanzines or radio show podcasts or live platforms or any of it. No one will even step forth and say bullshit when the Israeli prez calls all Palestinians guilty and their venerated politicians call Palestinians animals, all guilty, should be exterminated, all that horrible racist shit. Cowardly punks. Sellout got mines, book reading at the Gentrification bar. Don’t care about the non celebrities or lesser than, “others”. Starbellied Sneetches. Mimosa on.
