Seattle surf rock’n’rollers 38 COFFIN have released a few singles before offering us this full length album celebrating old-school rock’n’roll. You’ll hear the ghost of The CRAMPS in songs like “Road Queen” or “Leopard Spots” and you’ll get your fix of horror garage rock with “Black Leather Cat”, “Black Town”, “Nuclear Wave” or “Witching Hour.” Surf rock meets pop melodies in “Bad Luck” and songs like “Dead Surfer Girl” or the glam stomping “Dark Night” have a very B-movie atmosphere. Speaking of glam rock, you’ll also hear a cool tribute to JOHNNY THUNDERS in a song simply untitled “Johnny Thunders” just before ending with the creepy garage surf “Human Man.” Put on your leopard print clothes, grab a drink and turn it up! /Laurent C.
