Day after the eclipse and I sadly did not get raptured, but I was talkin’ to my cool professor friend from Cambridge about the Ramones and Springsteen and the eighties. I was an awkward, ugly, pasty, scrawny kid so all these awful Reaganite jock dickheads always called me Joey Ramone. Imagine Duckie from “Pretty In Pink” but with hair at that annoying in between length where it’s not long enough to really shag or grease back, bad, I mean goofy glasses frames, bad acne, bleached jeans with bands sharpied on ’em, biker boots, maybe a homemade spraypainted NY Dolls shirt, leather jacket and just so, so hated. I sucked at sports at a bigshit sports school, so even like, the dickhead coaches turned a blind eye to the sportos harrassing me, if not actively encouraging them to, which was my most sincere impression. There was like, ONE girl who liked me, and she was in mourning and really into like new wave. All my jealous, older punk friends who’d already graduated would always tell me she only liked me cause she felt sorry for me. Her parents forbade her from being around me, that was about it for me, for a long time. And I had some more conforming heavy metal stoner dudes who acted like they were doing me some big favor by letting me hang around them in their stupid Member’s Only jackets and checkered Vans, always reeking of dirtweed and Marlboro Reds. Everywhere we walked some Go Bengals dickhead would yell “Joey Ramone” or “Devo” at me out their car window…”Fag!”, “Boy George!” That was my teenage life until I got fed up enough to get on a Grayhound to the airport, took a plane to NYC. Thought I’d find a band and maybe get discovered by Hilly Kristol or some shit. I wasn’t even that into the Ramones, yet, I was mainly into the Deadboys. Now I’m old, and I take it as a supreme compliment when someone sez I remind them of Joey ramone. Draw inspiration from the dear brother. We need more Joey Ramones. He had a lotta soul, if you ask me. I get Ozzy and Alice alot, too. Old people at Wal Mart. “Did anybody tell you you look just like Ozzy?” Uh, yeah. Once. But really, all the time, almost everyday. So yeah, I’m still alive here, goin’ through the motions, talked to a lady bassplayer yesterday who might know a wild guitar player, I’m pretty cynical about music scene people, but I keep on searchin’ for some desert town rocknroll people to play with. I found a drummer-the most elusive piece-he’s playing in like a three part harmony prog-ish, jam band but I can tell he really wants to be in a sleazy outlaw anarchist rocknroll band, I can just see it all over him, so hopefully, the universe sends me new guitar player soon. I got some new songs and fronting dirty hoodlum crazy punk bands is still probably what I do best. People in corporate media and middleagers on social media are mourning the death of the guy from Firehouse. I never remember ever hearing Firehouse. I feel like they came along when I was getting sick of all the sorta assembly line metal bands with formulaic power ballads. I kinda get them confused with all those other semi-faceless dude metal bands, but I was personally sad to hear of Clarence Frogman Henry’s passing. Tried to watch a shitty Netflix doc about some mainstream manufactured female country singer last night just really trying to understand her appeal, but I just could not connect to any of her backstory, or lyrics or popularity, other than I suppose she had a very flat stomach and was attractive to older bigwigs and only had one theme to all her songs which was essentially like, girl’s night out. I think Brandie Carlisle was the genuine article, though-the last real soulful talent to sneak through the Big Machine. Aint liked nobody mainstream since I dunno, Manic Street Preachers or George Michael or Inxs or somebody. They so called celebrities of the past two decades all seem so phony and mediocre and gutless and heartlessly insincere to me. Really been connecting to some David Jo songs lately-particularly, “Aint Got Nothin’”, and “Temptation To Exist” and “Maimed Happiness”. When family members are struggling, or having medical problems, I feel it pretty intensely. Some of my loved ones are M.I.A., others seem to be experiencing early stage dementia or whatever you call it when they just become so frenzied and paranoid and borderline demonic over being consumed with the love of money, chasing some inheritance fantasy, whatever all that shit’s about. Today I gotta assist my kid with all his work and counseling and school related operations, probably have to do some outside the home errands which I kinda loathe sometimes, cause having to paint on the fakeass compliance face and interact with all the zombies of death has gotten to be a real drag for me. The Hillarybot divorcee pro genocide pitbull ladies, the batshit with racism scared old boomer males who listen to rightwing talk radio and think there is a gigantic flood of brown people immigrating here to steal their freedom fries and daughters and good jobs and mooch off welfare with the free for all foodstamps and vote for Biden rather than Trump, and you know they just seem hysterically psychotic to me. All the signs in the yards about their fucking guns and how they love Trump. Dunno which rabid death cult is worse anymore-they all just seem like self obsessed, merciless, power clutching greedheads to me. I hope the sun comes out, I need the birdsong and blue sky, the overcast gloomy days when it’s cold are just insufferable on top of the strees of parenting under all the super inflation, media gaslighting, middleclass goosesteppers and evil billionaires normalizing genocide.
