We got teased with a few singles before this new album release. “Shadows” opens the record with style mixing the best of indie rock with contemporary mod energy before “Proper Job” offers us some catchy power pop with a subtle touch of glam rock. In most songs, Micko’s vocals on verses are like those of a storyteller and they keep you wanting to hear what comes next. The beats and structures get more adventurous in “Would You Believe It” and things almost get psychedelic with “That’s What It’s All About” and “Misery Guts”. On the other hand, “Parked Car” and “Now I’m Dead” both offer us some epic and gothy atmospheres. You’ll also hear some 60s rock influences in “Guilty”, “Viva La Underdog” and in “All At Sea” and the last two songs “Thin Line” and “Mystery Of The Night” are catchy enough to stay in your mind once you have finished listening to the album. “The Trinity” is quite a personal album, Micko says: ‘The Trinity’ is a special record for me, as I found myself pushing further into the writing and the mysterious characters that inhabit the songs as a refuge, in order to remain afloat rather than adrift as the unstable moorings of family past became ever more present” and this is something you can feel while listening to these 12 songs. /Laurent C.
