Pittsburgh’s RATTLE BONES are back with a second album. “In Exile” opens the record with some great 80s influenced heavy rock with killer riffs and cowbell! “Last Groove In Town” is indeed groovy in a ROLLING STONES disco rock era way while “Ain’t It Strange” and “Broken Pieces” could be QUIREBOYS song. If you’re looking for a catchy tune, then just listen to “Absolutely Criminal” and if you want a more cinematic one, “Quicksand Blues” is the one for you. Things get quieter with “Raising The Dead” but still with a good 70s groove. BLACK CROWES fans will probably love “Damn, Too Bad” and a song like “Slow Drag” is the perfect example of how RATTLE BONES manage to mix heavy rock with funky groove and catchy melodies. The album ends on a nostalgic note with “Coda” and it only makes you want to hear more! /Laurent C.
