Gotta work today as a housecleaner and a rich person’s personal assistant’s assistant. I’m tired, boss, and just wanna…well, I dunno, really aint got nothin’ I wanna do right now. Maybe sleep. I wanted to record old songs and finally found a capable and willing guitarist from Texas but the family obligations, poverty, and health problems, and both of us being non drivers kinda makes practicing almost impossible. We have to go to fucking Wal-Mart today and everything quadrupled in price since the Covid clampdowns, it’s hellishly depressing and I never get enough sleep anymore, it’s just outdoor slave laboring or helpless parenting, we have to work ten hours a day doing dumbfuck, soul draining, I’m too old for this shit-work, just to barely get by and everything costs too much-razors, hairdye, food, rent, gas, everything sucks. If I bother voting, and I’ve felt the fix was in since Bush/Cheney, it’ll be for Dr. Jill Stein or Claudia De la Cruz. I’m back with four more gems from the 70s that all have two things in common. All of these were radio hits I heard growing up that got airplay on AM & FM radio and were all substantial hits. The second thing they all have in common is that all the singers of all these 70s hits are all dead due to either accidents or illness. That part sucks. But these tunes are all great and have hooks for days and melodies that you can’t get out of your head. In my humble opinion this is some really great stuff. I hope you and the general public agree.

I met this guy once, but by the time I did he was very odd. It was at a screening of a documentary they did on him. He was/is a Power Pop icon.

These next two tunes just flat out kick ass. Now that I think of it one might actually be from the 60s, not the 70s, oh well.

Why don’t people write radio friendly tunes like this any longer. This song is a 70s touchstone for me and other power pop heads that grew up on stuff like this. What great writing and what an arrangement. Watty Wachtel’s guitar parts alone are worth serious study. Really great playing on his part. This guy died way too young.

As uplifting as this music is to listen to, it still makes me sad that none of these cats died due to old age. They really don’t write them like this anymore.
