I tend to romantisize the eighties cause that’s when I was young and free and doing my own thing and still had a sense of comaraderie and my own handpicked gang of weirdos, outcasts, hardcores, metalheads and goth ghouls-we were all more optimistic back then cause we benefitted from communal living, collective P.A. and band van ownership and had youth to throw up against our problems, we were scareed by school but still nowhere near to accepting defeat no matter how many times they expelled, evicted, dress code volated, or expelled us, we were still beaming with hope and excitement for the future that never came, at least not for me, and kinda got systemically stripped away and permanently dismantled in the grunge/alternative era when the monopolies all merged and they started programming the masses to just want I-phones and privilege and cars and bad cologne and all that preppie boyband lifestyle douchebag/stripper pop garbage, turning everything back into an empire of illusions faux Happy Days 90210 Peach Pit frathouse culture that they’ve been promoting relentlessly ever since, but you know, even in the 80’s, it wasn’t all big haired Smiths and Cure and Hanoi Rocks and Flesh For Lulu fans wearing our long Joy Division black trenchcoats and combat boots and making mixtapes at our hiphop DJ pal’s house, or gloomily drinking malt liquor in the graveyard, or cavorting merrily in some art ghetto basement punk scene, putting on panda eye Liquid Sky I.D. magazine makeup and Banshee dancing and weekend drinking cheap champagne in two hours away Ft. Wayne. The Man was already pushing a lotta fabricated media bullshit on the people like rah rah Ronald Reagan, Rambo, Oliver North, the PMRC censorship and Anti-Rock Conspiracy, Michael J. Fox, the Terminator, Phil Collins and Lionel Richie. Catholic kids at my old high school all wanted to be jock douches, ya know Tom Cruise in Chess King apparel, or the prick richboy characters from all the John Hughes movies in the Miami Vice clothes. No one could have imagined a world where these five dickhead narcissistic techlord CEO’s could capture all media and government to the point where they could dictate insanely irrational way beyond just counterintuitive, topdown narrative control of our lives, and effectively divide and conquer and infiltrate and mislead all organic people’s movements,l or tech gadget and legacy media firehose everybody into reciting lies about how up is down and right is left and light is dark…but here we are. Depopulating disaster capitalist “Revenge Of The Nerds” times some Egyptian pharoahs, plotting against us from the safety of underground bunkers, private cities and super yachts with death squads and fake ass maufactured monrach programmed celebrity lapdance culture, and Ivy League recruited spies delivering the fake news to varying demigraphics in varying pitches. I used to admonish people who wanted to checkout of society and look the other way and see no evil and pretend like everything was a woke and classy, peachy keen Bennetton diversity ad, for science and slowing down climate change, but as time goes by, and more and more people are zombified and assimialted by the Borg, I’ve kinda lost hope of ever finding “The Others” and now, even I just wanna escape into some kinda half lidded feelgood buzz make believe dream. If I had access to all those feelgood happy pills the absolutely batshit Queen Of Hearts loony, “off with their heads!” power trip winebox middle classers are on, I might be tempted to become more like the nonstop Amazon shopping know it all Kalltha Kops Karens on the hill, who think they have the right to never be offended, cause they married up, identified as some latest thang sacred cow, or inherited some shit, the old fashioned way. I was pissedoff when “Flipside” magazine was driven outta business and no rich people they made famous helped save it, they took music off MTV and kicked Rodney off the ROQ and never thought I’d live in a world with no Gem Spa, no ENZS, no Trash & Vaudeville, no CBGB’s , no bohemian underground, no little punk labels willing to release records by people who are not from local gentry wealth and inheritance. If you hate tv like I do, you’ll end up bored out of your mind, cause all the accessible social outlets are gone now, all the storefronts are boarded up, nobody knows how to share space or collaborate, so there is nothing to do but slave in the fields. That’s how they get ya. I end up wanting to work more, just cause the only option is watch all the sicko conditioning on the unreality cannibal tv and all the people are just scrolling on their I-phones and telling me how we need to close all the little mom and pop stores down again by late September and put the cloth masks that don’t actually work back on, and bomb Iran for feminism and blah blah blah blah Netflix blah, and fuck that shit-ya know? I mean come on, it really is some Rod Serling hot garbage out there. Everybody’s gone stormtrooper Max Headroom Nurse Ratched. I’m not a videogame person and the faux wokey McWoke fraud squad worshipping, Thank Obama faux wokes even kinda ruined cosplay for old freak freely new wavers like me. Pink wigs should never be mandatory. I’m not in favor of ANY dresscodes. When I see illuminati muppet preppie douche-they, Harry Styles or Lady Gag Me, all fifth hand stylist trussed up just like me in my teen years being high paid for playing rich people festivals by the same richass authorities who chased me outta school, and outta town, for wearing all the pink and silver and purple feathered and gold lacey things that nobody wears, it is facking crazy surreal. And everybody’s got a poison heart. Kinda pullin’ my hair out here, cause I dread Wal Mart and it’s quadrupled prices are blamed by locals on “Putin”, the so called non profits are even price gouging and being ransacked by gentrification crowd, I refuse to go into the ripoff coffee shop or ripoff yuppie brewer, so ya know, there’s too much time to contemplate mortality and soI end up doing a lotta mindless chores or low pay busy work, or just weeding the yard. Restless, indeed. So restless. Even broke my camera. Used to take walks and photograph the cactus and raptors and clouds and shit, just for recreation-now, it’s just me and all the haunting memories, and the worries about the kids and the super inflation and the usual monotony and Wal Mart dread. Of course I miss the eighties.
