Formerly known as PUNKY TUNES, this French 5 piece band decided to change their name when they stopped being a cover band and started to write their own songs. This debut album contains 15 tracks on hot vinyl released by Kanal Hysterik and Nitescence Records. Opening song “Up There” delivers some angry yet melodic punk rock with a DISTILLERS touch while “Again” and “A Song For Hope” both have a Californian pop punk vibe. You’ll also hear street punk influences here and there (“Red Lights Anthem”) and a healthy dose of old-school hardcore in the animal liberation themed song “Compassion.” Speaking of hardcore, NYHC fans will probably enjoy “Boop The Snoot” and songs like “What We Feel” or “Mental Rollercoaster” will remind you of the best of 90s emo punk. Side B opens with “What it’s Like To Be A Girl” and “Unbelievable”, two songs that could be the band’s hit singles. Then, LUEUR takes us back to the mosh pit with “[In]dependent” and “The Raised Fist”. The most surprising song on this album has to be the pop meets skate punk “Flat Earthers Around The Globe, Unite!” but the album ends with in your face punk rock again (“Train To Catch” and “Talkin’ Shit”.) Cool songs, positive energy, good production, nice layout and you’ll even get a poster! Go for it! /Laurent C.
