It’s always good to see that British glam punk rockers The DeRellas are still around staying true to their roots. They teased us a few months ago with their street punk single “Just Because I Smile It Doesn’t Mean I like You” and here they are again with a full album. The glam punk vibe is still dominating in songs like “This Is Going To Hurt” or the glitter boogie “Loveless Landslide”. The band offers us their own version of The STRANGELOVE‘s “Night Time” (popularized by JAYNE COUNTY) and it fits them like a black leather glove. “Fake It Til You Make It” and “If Your World Falls Apart” both mix punk rock melodies with Timmy’s raucous vocals while “A Shot Of Feelings” delivers straight and furious street punk. You’ll get a bit of sun with “Empire Vultures” and its Californian mood before diving deeper in rock’n’roll darkness and madness with “We Ain’t Satisfied”. There’s also a bit of a horror/theatrical vibe wandering around this album, especially in the last two songs “Touch-a Touch-a Touch-a Touch Me” and “Stop Living In My Brain.” Trust the, this is going to hurt good! /Laurent C.
