how we should worry about

up against the light bill that never gets lighter

You are asked to overlook all of this lest you be responsible for another Trump term and what they say will be the end of democracy. But this is the democracy they offer you in return: one where your freedom to speak out against a genocide makes you the enemy. To stop MAGA fascism, they ask you to embrace their fascism. To fight against MAGA racism, they ask you to overlook the racism within their ranks. And don’t you dare call it out, lest you be labeled disloyal. No party, no nominee, that has any shred of humanity would do any of this. No party that truly stood against fascism would cheer for a nominee that vows never to cut off weapons to a state that perpetrates unspeakable horrors on the people of Palestine. They are asking you to push your humanity down, to ignore your heart, just one more time, to save democracy. In return, they require your silence and acquiesence. Any democracy that requires silence in the midst of inhuman slaughter is no democracy at all.
