Fourth Of July in the no man’s deadend desert wasteland, our neighbors house just burntdown, we’re all kinda shook up about that. They were good people, hillbillies with faulty wiring in their compound of old trailers, they lost animals and the elderly parents are just crushed. My wife gave ’em our old car but they are four disabled adults who need everything. I remember a time when I was a lot more indoctrinated by the war machine before all my boyhood metal buds got sucked into the military, when I could really enjoy a party, ya know? Fireworks and cookouts and beer and hoo haw, but that was a long time ago. I was in the David O. Steiner Youth Corrections facility the day that yokel radio station 92 Zoo played the debut of the David Lee Roth band’s “Yankee Rose”. Me and my ace pal Kevin Little weree in neighboring cells and were both just bouncing off the walls. Roth was misguided for not keepin’ the “Eat ‘Em & Smile” band together, they rivalled the mighty Van Halen in my book. “Damned Good” still makes me cry. My friend Kevin Little was stabbed to death by drug dealers, I’m told. He was a beautiful cat, drove Caddilacs, loved the Clash and Billy Idol, has sons that look just like him. Miss that brother something fierce. All of my friends are gone and the scum lives on, ya know? Got family members in crisis, just realized this morning I aint recorded any new music in about 25 years, been busy raising kids and now it feels like I’m running outta time. I’ve written a lot of new songs in 25 years but just aint got no band which is a reflection of these monopolist oligarchy’s control of everything more than it is my ability to shake some action really-everybody’s been trained to cower or compete and obey and backstab and ratrace brand build rather than let their hair down and have a real cool time tonight. I don’t know how I feel about any of it anymore really, but mostly just traumatized, PTSD, shaky hands, it is what it is. If you know any wildeyed revolution rockers in red pleather pants who wanna join a real rocknroll band, send ’em my way.
