New Jersey rockers THE RATCHETS are in the midst of releasing a steady stream of digital singles over the next 12-18 months and they’ve just dropped their latest track “Hurricane Condition.” Click here to listen. The song is complemented by a reggae remix entitled “Washout Party” by Strawberry Zaiquiri.
The release of “Hurricane Condition” is the third in a string of digital singles for the punk rock stalwarts who have made it their initiative to continue to release singles over the next few years. The band previously released the tracks “Street Manners” and “Swagger With Kindness.”
“Hurricane Condition” is a quasi-funk marvel; spacey and mechanical, fluid and scratchy. A post-punk torch song; it stars a narrator who is staring down a literal and figurative storm. Bone-simple riffs over a rubbery baseline and spidery beat, the song is all pocket. Written in a land where everything dances – through pelting rain and gusts of wind, the groove catches as you and the band gaze into the hurricane.
Fans will also be treated to a remix of the song, titled “Washout Party,” done by Strawberry Zaiquiri, a reggae/dub-influenced take on the track.
