“Music That Humans Can Play” is the new album of Canadian synth driven power pop band AUTOGRAMM. You’ll hear some news wave and 80s radio friendly rock influences in “Born Losers” and a CHEAP TRICK touch in “WannaBe.” The most powerpop songs like “Hey Allie”, “Yesterday” and “Love Is For Fools” will turn a rainy day into a sunny one and you’ll find some interesting cinematic atmospheres in “(Always Gonna) Be My Girl” as well as in the intro of the DEVO tainted “Why Do We Dance.” If you think that you won’t find any RAMONES or CLASH influences in such an album then you are wrong, just listen to “Plastic Punx” which even has a SIGUE SIGUE SPUTNIK style guitar part! The album ends with the anthemic “Drive Right In” that kinda reminds me of early KIX when they were sounding like the perfect mix of American hard rock and new wave. Good songs and a lot of fun, 80s lovers should definitely check this album! /Laurent C.
