Seattle based pop-punk rocker EMI POP has just released her fantastic cover of the 60’s boogaloo hit “Sabre Olvidar” originally released in 1968 by TnT Band (Tito ‘n Tony Band). While the original incorporates a 50s style doo-wop progression with 60s boogaloo, Emi’s updated version features a more straightforward rock beat and a kind of surf-y rock vibe that elevates the track to new heights. The bold and disheartening lyrics undeniably captures the listeners attention with the lyric “I suffer knowing you are not dead” in reference to a ex-lover that should literally disappear!
EMI POP live dates:
02/17 – Seattle – Global Groove @ Rendezvous
03/02 – Seattle – Freakout Festival @ Madame Lous
03/09 – Seattle – Sunset Tavern
04/05 – Seattle – Belltown Yatchclub
Emi Pop’s musical journey began in her hometown of San Juan, Puerto Rico and her style is equally influenced by Latin Pop as well as Underground Punk. Starting out as a vocalist and guitarist in Mely Y los Poppers back in Puerto Rico followed by a stint as bassist in Los Pepiniyoz, Emi has now found a home in Seattle’s underground music scene. From honing her skills as a guitarist for diverse Seattle acts such as Famous Lizards and most recently with horror punks 38 Coffin, Emi Pop lives and breathes straightforward rock ‘n roll and weaves beautiful melodies that become deeply embedded earworms prone to sing-alongs
