Sometimes hard working bands get rewarded and that’s what is happening right now to London’s LOS PEPES who are on tour in Europe opening for DANKO JONES every night! This album has been sold-out for a while but it’s now available again on Wanda Records. LOS PEPES are just like wine, getting better and better with age, improving their songwriting and arrangements. Songs like “Small Time” or “Never Get It Right” have the energy and the hooks like early TURBONEGRO, “I Want You Back”, “Keep Me Alive” and “Let Them Talk” are addictive rock’n’roll songs and “Sick and Bored” and “Anecdotes” slow things down with a 60s teenage powerpop vibe. The spirit of the RAMONES still wanders around when you listen to “Blur The Lines” and The EXPLODING HEARTS come to mind when listening to “The Happiness Program.” These guys love rock’n’roll and “Born Into This”,”Standard Procedure” and the excellent “I Remember You” have slight hard rock touches mixed with glam punk. A great album and still one of the best punk powerpop bands around!/Laurent C.
