This 4 song split 12″ features two French power pop bands and is out on Wanda Records/Dangerhouse Skylab/Lara Records. FLATHEAD from Marseille stand somewhere between sunny 70s teenage power pop and melodic punk rock with a healthy dose of rock’n’roll. “Egg Cream” is sweet and shiny while “I’m In Love With My Girl” has a bit of a ’77 punk flavour, think The BOYS/999. The SEGMENTS hail out from Lyon and also love sweet melodies and nice vocal harmonies with a touch of indie pop. “The Best For Us” even has a bit of early REM vibe to it. As a second song, they have chosen to cover PHIL SEYMOUR‘s “Baby It’s You”. The sun is out and it’s getting to hot outside but this is definitely a good summer EP! /Laurent C.
