After Danny Peyronel posted a few songs from his upcoming album (The title track “I Happens When You Look The Other Way” and “The Last Goodbye”), I was curious enough to listen to the rest of the songs, I kinda knew I was in for a treat. Not only I wasn’t wrong about it, the rest of the album is just as good as them, this is the kind of album that true lovers of Classic Rock will absolutely adore. Having played in many well respected bands UFO, Heavy Metal Kids, Tarzen and Banzai, Danny Peyronell’s career seems endless. Not that these collection of songs are here to confirm anything that hasn’t been confirmed about his career, but for sure, they are here to prove how much involved an artist can be with music when it comes from a genuine place. The album starts with the very catchy “It Happens When You Look The Other Way”, a very 1970s Glam Rock song ala Slade / Mott The Hoople with an energetic electric approach, courtesy of David Pereira, whose guitar playing on the album is outstanding (he is also the producer behind these songs) I don’t know if my judgement is correct here, but I believe the music on this album takes us right into the arms of the best British Rock, so is the case with “Heaven’s On a Chevy Tonight”, with its Queen / David Bowie vibe, like I said before, some of the tracks in here are pretty anthemics. Quite an eclectic variety of subgenres and styles are part of this musical journey. His UFO days are well represented in songs like “Run Away Rashid”, “Upside Down” There’s also a bit of a heavier edge involved in songs like “Down Down Down”, some time for the Blues ala 1980s’ Gary Moore on “A Different Kind Of Blue”, and a bunch of captivating and melodic AOR ballads such as ”Love Is a Vicious Thing”, “Lost” and “You Don’t Have To Say Goodbye” Danny’s singing in the haunting “From Russia With Love” evokes Bowie again and I can find some 1970’s Power Pop and a bit of T.Rex on “The Last Goodbye”, which turned out to be a personal favourite. The albums closes with an outro, you can listen to the chorus of “Heaven’s On a Chevy Tonight”, it feels as if the albums is waving goodbye from a Space Ship. Paraphrasing his singing on “The Last Goodbye”, this album is filled with “getaway songs”, and that’s a great thing in the year 2024. This is one huge album IMHO, can’t wait for the release, in the meantime we have 2 killer singles. /Juan Pablo Mazzola.
