I never belonged there and finally got out, after riots, after cops firing rubber bullets at funerals, after all kinds of bad shit. A couple dudes I knew even stood up for the intellectual bon vivant black jazzsnob when some outta town skinhead hammer nazis showed up one night, and were giving him the bad shit at the local divebar. One fella ended up getting fucked up severely by bonehead racists’s steeltoed boots for almost ten minutes while cops watched from their squad car refusing to intervene until a smalltime drug dealer came outside the bar with an aluminum bat, saving someone’s life. That dude stood for what he believed in but got a bootprint on his face, a sidewalk stained with blood, a cracked rib, cuncussion, ongoing death threats, and bruises on like 90% of his body, but nobody cared back there cause he was not part of the pay to play in crowd. When the man had to investigate, they were way more interested in asking witnesses to tell them which down and outers might be on oulawed drugs.
