The first single of MALA VISTA “In The Dark” introduced a band full of youthful energy and heavily influenced by the late 70s NY punk scene. This album confirms that they probably listened to a lot of JOHNNY THUNDERS and DEAD BOYS and we certainly won’t complain about that. You’ll find the raw energy and the dirtiness of the famous CBGB bands in “9 Ball”, “Dirty By The Dozen” or “Die Waiting” and the snottiness of ’77 punk in “Don’t Owe You”, “Cabron” or in “I Don’t Wanna.” You’ll also hear a bit of NEW YORK DOLLS in “Juana La Cubana” and in the last song “Riot”. 9 explosive songs that will make you want to listen to them all again right after you’ve finished listening to the album./Laurent C.
