Americans have recently been arrested or charged for: 1) Giving shelter to homeless people freezing to death 2) Protesting to stop genocide 3) Hanging out with friends in a public place 4) Feeding the hungry 5) Growing food on your own property 6) Giving water to those dying of thirst 7) Refusing to pay taxes that fund wars that kill millions of innocent people (Rarely do war tax resisters go to prison, but the IRS will certainly come after you and possibly destroy your credit rating and your life) 8) Trying to help children who have nowhere to go 9) Helping a woman exercise abortion rights – And let’s be honest, if it were men who pumped out the babies, you wouldn’t have to sprint across the border like you’re a drug mule just to get the procedure. There would be $5 abortions at every 7-11, next to the Slurpee machine. Only 5 bucks plus a free taquito for the ride home. 10) Filming & exposing police brutality or police murdering someone 11) Being off the grid 12) Freeing horribly abused animals 13) Trying to stop the fossil fuel industry that is destroying our planet and our future 14) Revealing war crimes 15) Revealing surveillance crimes against all Americans 16) Publishing endless crimes perpetrated by the US empire 17) Winning a lawsuit against a corporation for knowingly killing or destroying the lives of thousands of people (For hyperlinks to all 17 examples, view this essay at LeeCamp dot net.)
