“Guess Who’s Back?” Well, one of the best contemporary hard rock bands from Canada, DANKO JONES! They have announced it with their single/Video “Good Time”, the power trio is ready to party again. Heavy rock guitars, mid-tempo drum beats and catchy vocal lines such as “I came here to f*ck shit up and have a good time!” or “We’re gonna shake your city!”, you’ll get it all! You’ll still find some punk’n’roll influences as well in “What Goes Around”, “She’s My Baby”, “Eye For An Eye” or “Electric Sounds” and a bit of powerpop in “Get High.” The 80s glam metal touch can be heard especially in “Let’s Make Out” (somewhere between KISS and ELECTRIC ANGELS!) and in “Good Time.” After those pandemic years, they say it themselves: “there’s no need to reinvent the damn thing: instead, this band are simply honing and refining their craft, always at full volume!” and you’ll have to admit that it’s hard not to stomp your feet when listening to songs like “Stiff Competition” and “I Like It.” Let’s face it, the world is crashing down and we all miss good-time rock’n’roll bands like KISS, the RAMONES or CHEAP TRICK so get this album and party like it’s 1989! /Laurent C.
