I still dream of making new records like Joe Strummer & The Mescaleroes, ya know? Still got like almost zero chance of that shit ever happening in this lifetime. What sucks most about it is understanding I got lots of songs(!!) archived that are better by most any criteria than that garbage the pig media and gentrified big city fake bars promote. I’ll probably die pissedoff about never having been able to record and release and travel and perform my little poppy protest songs, cause everybody else seems to do it all the time with no problems. Usually all those people got to say anyways, is always just some shit about how bitchen it is to be hometown popular and have an entrouge and an inheritance and sugar daddy and look at all our latest shiny stuff, ya know? I wrote the songs that made the old drunks cry, but even still, it’s always just more filling out online applications and background checks to clean hotels or sell old crazies scratch off lotto tickets all day while the rush hour fuckers in line behind them make a big scene complaining. I’m a way, way better wild rocknroll singer than I ever was a convenience store cashier, landscaping ranch hand, errand boy, or custodian, but if you are blue collar at heart, especially if you are outspoken and working class, the born in mansions trendies and the bourgeoise pigs will always, always, always find their ways to keep you locked out. I don’t miss that middle class showoff scene much-we went to some art gallery exhibit in the posh part of town a couple months ago and it was nothing but landlords showing off their paint spill art gimmicks and some too much money bored millioanires into swinger threesomes and moresomes inviting us back to their airbandbs to show off their ahem, bad oversized vanity occult art collections and talkin’ bout their shamanic sex magic practices. Every big hat old man in the desert’s a big truck shaman, every angry pitbull heiress divorcee’s a psychic reefer healer.
Sundays are always a bummer-ya know? If ya aint gonna smoke, what else are you gonna do? The hateful haves on high have to do lists galore, but who wants to get involved with the pontificating authority figure know it all Judge Judies from the university entitlement managerial cult? Notice how they spend their time online shopping but got encyclopedias of opinions about how you dirty poors and lower ranking unspecials need to be watching youtube how to repair shit videos, or scrubbing something? “ABC=always be cleaning”, “if you have time to lean, you have time to clean”, “retail is detail”, “here’s the mop bucket, if you wanna get started in the back, that’d be super”. So boring here, it drives you to succomb. Nothing to do but weed the yard or sand the furniture or buy the quadruple overpriced, intentionally toxic groceries that no longer fill the trunk from the evil empire. Read the Allen Carr book some more. Everything feels so volatile, unreliable, destabilized and fragile nowadays. I think about this dude I never knew, a local handyman rancher hippie type, by all accounts a vital bolt of poetic lightning like a year ago, now he’s a box of ashes in a dirty cabin. It goes by too fast and that saddest part is how all our days get hijacked by the machine and how pig-media bamboozles everybody into betraying their own and pissing their lives away to chase carrots of fame and fortune or popularity or moral superiority delusions of enlightenment. People who slave for the man all day will tell you you are “wasting your life” by not participating in the backstab culture. I’ll risk it. Certain people say I need more money so I halfheartedly look around for part time morning supplementary jobs but ya know all the stores and restaurants have closed within walking distance and their aint no public transportation in deadend desert ghost towns so the pressure has returned to get a car and pay for insurance and all that bullshit. Men are supposed to drive and fix roofs and wear toolbelts and fight wars and mow the yard and wash the car and shit. I got mixed feelings about all that programming and the sliding scales and forever double standards of the middle class gatekeeper airbandb renting snitch Karens. Where I live the rich retiree fake new age people are insufferable, but maybe not as bad as all the lumbering zombie elderly hardons and bigmouth creeps. I don’t suck up to rich people so that kinda leaves me with minimal access to rich people hobbies, which is mostly what muzak has become-the empty plaigiristic pastime of the ruling class predators, poseurs, gadflies and dillettantes. Been that way for a solid 25 years now. I’m a little resnetful about gentrification-rock. Maybe I’ll try the pharmacy, cause the old people who work the counter there seem to have even worse math skills than me, they have to fumble with a calculator for like five minutes if you wanna buy two stamps. This is a dead end town. Emphasis on dead. Good thing there aint no honkytonkin’ juke joint street people dive bar in this town or I mighta vanished into it by now. I’m sick of creeps. Iggy’s got a good song about wanting to run away to Paraguay. Me, I gotta go feed the cats and change their litter boxes. After that, I’ll go sit alone in a room and try to figure out something worthwhile to do with what little time remains.

Partially, this is a vestigial ethic from the Californian libertarian origins of online pro-privacy campaigning. Partially, it is a symptom of the superior public relations enjoyed by Silicon Valley technology corporations, and the fact that those corporations also provide the bulk of private funding for the flagship digital privacy advocacy groups, leading to a conflict of interest.
At the individual level, many of even the most committed privacy campaigners have an unacknowledged addiction to easy-to-use, privacy-destroying amenities like Gmail, Facebook, and Apple products. As a result, privacy campaigners frequently overlook corporate surveillance abuses. When they do address the abuses of companies like Google, campaigners tend to appeal to the logic of the market, urging companies to make small concessions to user privacy in order to repair their approval ratings. There is the false assumption that market forces ensure that Silicon Valley is a natural government antagonist, and that it wants to be on the public’s side—that profit-driven multinational corporations partake more of the spirit of democracy than government agencies.
Many privacy advocates justify a predominant focus on abuses by the state on the basis that the state enjoys a monopoly on coercive force. For example, Edward Snowden was reported to have said that tech companies do not “put warheads on foreheads.” This view downplays the fact that powerful corporations are part of the nexus of power around the state, and that they enjoy the ability to deploy its coercive power, just as the state often exerts its influence through the agency of powerful corporations. The movement to abolish privacy is twin-horned. Privacy advocates who focus exclusively on one of those horns will find themselves gored on the other.”
