One band I seldom listen to now that were mind blowing to me and my first one true love way back in I dunno, 83 or 84 was Tears For Fears who we played right alongside the Cure, the Smiths, Depeche Mode and the Psychedelic Furs and even that first Howard Jones and King and Nik Kershaw as weirdo sad kids from nowhere. “I find it kinda funny, I find it kinda sad, these dreams in which I’m dying are the best I ever had”. I fell in love with a girl way back when, even before I’d runaway to NYC at 14, I’d already become eternally smitten with a cool kindred spirit from the other side of the tracks, and she recognized something in me, too in spite of my 16, clumbsy and shy gawkishness and girl’s bicycle. Our short lived whirlwind innocent honeymoon of hand holding, couch sitting, lyric sheet perusing new wave bliss did not last long cause of course, all the adults identified me early on as a threat to suburban protocol and a “disruption of the learning process” with my dorky attempts at new romantic style costumery and gaudy blue eyeshadow and suspected underage drinking and by wooing good girls who were sternly discouraged from being involved with the wild and reckless likes of my young self, like the one who shared my love of the Smiths and Tears For Fears. The big hits got sickening on the radio and it’s always annoying when you love some band that gets mainstream overplay and becomes like some kinda sonic wallpaper of the socially engineered straights and yuppies, but some of those old songs still get me in a certain mood. Like, “I Believe”. We weren’t used to hearing such naked vulnerability on our black vinyl. I got a lyric in one of my own songs that goes, “part of me is 83”. No such thing as was. I’m standing right here.

SIMPLE MINDS
Another band none of my so called peers ever seemed to like much aside from the movie soundtrack big hit was Simple Minds. I get why people would not gravitate towards music like Simple Minds or Tears For Fears or even the Smiths really if they are looking for some kinda instant popularity or sports celebrity membership in the local gentry rich kid cliques, but I was not all that concerned with looking to the Izod shirt wearers to determine what was cool to me. Me n my girl back then, we liked U2, the Police, Inxs and none of them were considered at all cool wher we came from for another five or ten years after we started exchanging new wave mixed tapes. I was a real problem child I guess cause they put me in a rich rightwing sports school and I loved makeup and black leather and carried around stacks of books and new wave magazines and they all fucking hated me-even and especially the coaches, admin, and sports moms. Jim Kerr might not have been conventionally good looking like all those other UK “Smash Hits” pop starlets, but neither was I and his lyrics were so soulful and just resonated with me. I see myself in him quite a lot, esp. like in that “Glittering Prize” video..ya know? I have this vision of Simple Minds reassembling on the side of that mountain and remaking the whole video for “Alive & Kicking”, but now, in their old age. I see why Chrissie Hynde liked him enough to marry but you know I loved Chrissie since I was like what, in the third grade-first song I ever sang with a real band was “Message Of Love”. All my early attempts at songwriting was me trying to write about my friends and loves and returning to the lost garden of our early teenage years together in what was for me a life lasting imprint of an all too brief early days deeply felt bliss and splendor and sense of wonderment. It was like Eden for five minutes and yeah I still say the going up was worth the coming down. I’ll never know where it all goes-the friends we loved, the songs that went unrecorded, all the golden times that flutter by like a dream. I was young and now I am old, just like that. Now that the WEF occultist cashless society and depopulation ghouls have infiltrated and disrupted and corrupted all our people’s movements from the inside, and Klaus and Bill decided to relentlessly promote their whole underage children must have gender transition surgery with out their parent’s permission for rainbowashed faux wokeness and believing in science thing with vile predator adults behaving inappropriately around children at storytime and every Netflix show being about the occult or gender reassignment, it’s crazy to remember how those same fanatical authoritarians went to such grotesque lengths to crush me and my friends as adolesecents in the eighties for wearing too much black oil spill eyeliner and having a pair of creeprs, or liking the wrong person, ya know? We got paddled, detention halled, suspended, bootcamped, reform schooled, queerbashed, and expelled all for expressing ourselves creatively and really, really, really liking the Jesus & Mary Chain. Nobody’s sorry and they don’t care if we are offended. They told us to get over it. Bootstraps, they said.

The Davos honchos are not cuddly, or lovably nerdy, gamer woke, philanthropic super scientific saviors from the future coming to rescue you with dick rockets or sci-fi submarines. They are maximum predators. Stealing your rights, buying all media and politicians, and their agenda is continuing to roll out this high tech unprecedented, undemocratic, unelected, “hacking humans” totalitarianism.They will tell you it’s for the enviornment or kenta cloth photo ops, but they just steal civil rights populist lexicons and pervert them for their own sinister ends. Dr. West gets some snippets of truth into the spook controlled mass media and that is courageous. Your shitlib pants suits are over there telling you to get your eighth monkeypox booster for transkids rights in Iran and the Ukrainian babies and bragging about how the war is going and the economy is booming, and here is ya’all’s forever prez hypocritically babbling back on the red carpet some more about guns and abortion. So one of my favorite people from the old Bastards Brigade Tower Records daze, a razor witted fun glutton named Barrie just wrote me to say he was watching Guns N Roses at Glastonbury and how they still got it. I naturally told him how much they meant to me as a delinquent smalltown kid in the midwest when I was about 17, but how I’m not really into them without Izzy and Adler. thing is, I trust the good brother’s judgement so I find myself watching this Biography about them on tv and it reminds me how great I thought they were when they were still dangerous rebels and not just another mammoth, generic money making machine. A & E did a really good job interviewing all the right people, and it’s the best documentary about them I’ve ever seen, probably. If you loved ’em back in their sleazy glam heyday, you should probably check it out, even though it’s old as hell and ends with Velvet Revolver and Chinese Democracy–me, I never even liked “Illusions” besides a couple Izzy songs, but still an entertining fifty minute backstory. Bring back Izzy and Adler.
