In today’s music climate, you’d be hard pressed to find a story as encouraging and endearing as the history shared between bandmates Kenward Cooper and Stephen Valverde. The two men formed a friendship that dates back to their days together in grade school. Both connected by a shared love for music, which in time, would evolve into their own passion for creating songs with the intent of uplifting the human spirit.
Fast forward from the sandbox to adulthood, Kenward and Stephen journeyed on to pursue separate solo careers, taking them on a respective path of receiving their own accolades. And as those roads diverged, maybe Father Time was whisking up another plan.
The mark of a great friendship is when so many years can pass without being in touch with each other, but once you reunite, it’s like no time has passed at all. This certainly holds true for Kenward and Stephen, never forgetting their collective roots, nor their admiration for one another’s talents. The two have reconnected in 2023 to release an electrifying new single called “2028” under the name – Hotel Casino. The moniker pays tribute to where they are from, Las Vegas, born and bred. While the song tips the hat musically to the artists they both grew up loving, from Bowie to The Cars, and Men At Work to Lenny Kravitz.
