I was never into that Velvet Revolver band everybody else seemed to like, but I did really like the Neurotic Outsiders stuff!!! Better than anything by GNR since the first lp. Fifty years of Aerosmith, how they gonna do the farewell tour without Joey Kramer? That’s fuckedup, wrong. I might be the only lead vocalist/rocknroll frontman in the world who does not think he’s a better drummer than the drummer, that’s always been a problem with that band. Tyler thinks he’s the drummer. So yeah I dunno what went wrong between those guys-I just think it sucks when you leave somebody behind. I didn’t even like it when Blondie snubbed the old lads at the Hall Of Fame. Who knows though? Maybe Kramer’s sick of their shit. Happened to Mick Mars. It’s easy to see why he got bored with all the other three perpetually star tripping. Meanwhile, the Crue’s happy they got a younger guy with John 5. I never really liked the Black Crowes after their initial splash of doin’ like a Faces/ Stones thing, cause they sorta became a bearded Hollywood royals, personal tailored, Grateful Dead kinda millionaire jammy thing and started writing songs about growing beards and going to Palm Springs techno festivals with acrtresses and stuff. Aerosmith were the soundtrack of our young lives in scarlet scarves and paisley bellbottoms, even though I was not a teenager in the 70’s “Dazed & Confused” era, I came alive in that perfect era in between Greatest Hits Aerosmith, the red and white cassette, right? And their comeback with Run DMC and “Rag Doll” and “Angel” and “Elevator”, all that, when all the Guns N Roses bands were kinda in peak Wear-osmith imitation mode. I’m one of those bad weirdos who thinks the syrupy ballad mongering song doctors and outside writers were terrible for that band, I liked the suzzy, druggy, streetwise, ghettofied seventies stuff way better than any of that corporation jelly roll jive bullshit they did for money in the late eighties onward. Tyler wrote “Dream On” so it aint like he really needs help with lyrics and if he does, he should call me instead of Linda Perry, honestly-she writes greeting cards for dental hygenists. I love Aerosmith, was sad when they turned against Tyler, was sad when they turned against Joey Kramer, am glad they are still treading the stages but it don’t feel right without the whole gang reuniting for their fond farewell spectacle. Kramer is part of the band, man. So yeah that’s a bummer. I’d rather see Billy Idol or the Psychedelic Furs or the Cure than any victory lap half hearted money grab–like I’d never pay to see Guns N roses without Adler and Izzy, it just aint the same at all. Nahh. I’ll pass. I am kinda in the mood where I’d be maybe willing to venture out into society again if there was a good show within striking distance-my old lady was gonna buy tickets to see Roth in Vegas but he cancelled. I never see shows anymore. I did see one singer/songwriter guy from Seattle at a little gallery and he was good. Mostly I just labor in the yard and take care of an oversized bored and restless teenager. I’m a brokeass pauper in a desert ghost town surrounded by death, death, death these days. I don’t think anybody ever beat the “Same Old Song & Dance” and “Back In The Saddle Again” and “last Child” and “Walk This Way” era Aerosmith, least of all Corporate Sober Powertrip Board Of Executives Create By Committee Richman Aerosmith. Some mainstream comedian did some routine about how all their commercial madeover Aero-careerist vidogame crap was kinda all soundin’ the same, “Cry–in’/Dy-inn”, “Jay-ded-crazay-baybeh-Jay-neee-Anngel” and they weren’t wrong, but I still have a measure of heartfelt gratitude for all those cats. Even on their later records they are liberally sprinkled with some pretty good tunes here and there. I love “What It takes”, “F.I.N.E Fine”, even “Pink” and “Jaded” and “Legendary Child” a little bit. Peace out is right. Peace to the Aerosmiths.
