All us gutter gospel corner gang and out crowd kids are very sorry for his loss and are sending all our good vibes out to him and his kids. If you ever lived in L.A., you probably got sick of the Stan Ridgeway lineup’s ridiculously overplayed on KROQ song, “Mexican Radio”. I always liked their weirdo spaghetti western B movie road trip vibes, they were often described as Devo goes Oingo Boingo cowpunk, with both singersz sounding like they were phoning their vocals in on a c.b. radio. “Seven Days In Sammytown” was the record that got the most frequent spins at my place back when the kitchen was an all night open bar and we had streams of crazy people in and out all the time. We had these early morning bongo drum and harmonica jams and with at least three stereoes on the house there was always music playing-hiphop coming outta my roommate Hope’s room where she and her three friends would drink Jager and get ready to go out to Axis, Jacobites playing in Nikki’s room, some kinda indie film blaring on the tv with melissa parked on the couch inhaling deep from her bong. It was a perpetual lost weekend on the far side of crazy. A hooligan lived in the basement, he’d be jamming with the guitar teacher and the sax player and the moody tambourine shaker. All the roommates upstairs would always be pissed because he took long showers and never forkedover rent on payday, he’d just vanish. It was a good era in many ways, good era in most ways really. The hootennanny never seemed to end. I’d kinda flit about from room to room, entertaining guests, talking about Bob Dylan and Bukowski. Personally, I liked the Andy Prieby fronted version of the band better than the original, they were less nerdy/eccentric and more gothic and rocknroll. I also smile everytime I remember Prieboy wrote a play about Waxl called “White Trash Wins Lotto”. Very funny. They don’t make bands like Wall Of Voodoo no more, but if you’d like to try, shoot me a bat signal.

I feel for him for many reasons, but am wary about his wellbeing and safety, cause when Prince got his shit back, that’s when they found him dead and pig media promoted the mockingbird story that he was just another dead drug addict, and not an important and persuasive influencer who had written slave on his face, done battle for decades with the industry titans, went on BET to talk about geoengineering and the corrupt duopoly, and was spending big money discreetly bailing out young black activists involved in the Baltimore and Ferguson uprisings that the system wallpapered over with some opportunistic corporate sloganeering, by merely hiring some newly minted millionaire gotmine poc tokens, superfunding the murderous police state under cover of their maga psy op, and misdirecting legit black rage and righteous populist angst back into the irredeemable DNC voting put-ons. I don’t much miss my last part time labor or dishwashing gigs, but man, do I ever wanna get outta the house somedays. The tedium is murder. I’m up early on a Sunday thinking about venturing forth out into the dog perilous desert. I got a stick, not much of a deterrant if there’s more than one though, I’ll tell you that. I’ve had to fight growly attacking dogs off twice. It’s a drag, I don’t wanna get bit and I don’t wanna hit an animal and the owners of these snarly beasts are just bad people as far I’m concerned. You wanna dog, you should have to keep it inside, fenced in the yard or on a fucking leash. Period.
