Australian globetrotter/rocker SIMON CHAINSAW is back with a brand new 12 song colourful album recorded with his French backing band. Opening song “Don’t Kill Rock’n’Roll” sets the atmosphere of this record, heavier than the previous releases, but still melodic, punk rock played by heavy rockers (Simon’s vocals sometimes sound a bit like The OFFSPRING‘s Dexter Holland or SCORPIONS‘ Klaus Meine!)
Choruses in songs like “Don’t Kill Rock’n’Roll” or “Watch Out (Preciosa)” are quite catchy, and you’ll get enough guitar solos for your next air guitar session! Although the band’s style sometimes flirts with action rock, the more melodic/emo punk side of this album (“What We Aim”, “Eulogy”…) reminds me of SECOND RATE (the old band of bass player Nasty Samy and guitar player Billy The Kill), and when SIMON CHAINSAW covers SECOND RATE‘s “Don’t Deserve My Love”, it all comes full circle…
If you like up-tempo tunes with powerful drums and tight guitar riffs, then you’ll fall for “never Say Never”, “Hanging Me Out To Dry”, “Rules Of Life” and “We Are One.”
SIMON CHAINSAW will be on tour in Europe in April, so make sure you’ll check “Don’t Kill Rock’n’Roll” before that!/Laurent C.

Simon Chainsaw “Four On The Floor” 7″

Not forgetting his roots, Simon decided to include a cover of an Australian band on this 7″, “Not That Kind Of Attitude” from high-energy punk’n’roll gang MUSCLE CAR, and the SIMON CHAINSAW group managed to make it sound as one of their songs.
B-side opens with a melodic punk rock song full of energy mixing Turbogode’s hard-hitting drumming and Nasty Samy’s recognizable guitar melodies. The last song, “Laughing” is a GOO GOO DOLLS cover, and that was quite a good cover choice since it allows to underline SIMON CHAINSAW’s love for up-tempo punk rock beats and poppy melodic vocal lines. This 7″ is co-produced by a bunch of record labels including Kicking Records so you should be able to order it from their website, but hurry up as it’s only limited to 300 copies!/Laurent C.http://www.kickingrecords.com/
