NYC punk troubadour/poet Lorne Behrman is back with a new solo album produced by Matt Chiaravalle (Courtney Love, Debbie Harry…) and featuring many guests including The Uptown Horns (James Brown, Tom Waits, The Rolling Stones…). The opening song “If Heaven Didn’t Hurt” brings the 70s Lou Reed vibe back while “Ain’t It Funny” sounds like an urban disco rock spoken word tune. An early NYC punk vibe is haunting “They Won’t Take Us Alive” and you’ll be surprised by the groovy cinematic songs like “Take a Little Time”, “Every Motherfucker She Sees”, “Bitter Town Blues” or “Pink Cocaine”. This new record could be the soundtrack of a 70s movie in which New York after parties would always end in loneliness and heartbreaks. You’ll also hear some ROLLING STONES touches in “I Want To Love You Again.” The album is closing with the beautiful “After The Ramblin’ is Done” that could be a Leonard Cohen song. “If Heaven Didn’t Hurt” is out on Spaghetty Records, check it out! /Laurent C.
