2025 sees The GODFATHERS celebrate their 40th anniversary! That’s crazy to think about it, I can remember when 16 year old me first saw their video for “Birth School Work Death” on Swiss TV and then tried to play it on drums. Opening song “Back In The Future” sets the mood, The GODFATHERS still have a lot to say! Pub rock and punk rock married and had cool kids like “OCD” or “Primitive Man” and the catchy melodies of “You Don’t Love Me”, “Miss America”, “Tonight” or “Bring On The Sunshine” still can’t be beaten. These 18 Songs were personally selected by founder and frontman Peter Coyne from the band’s three most recent critically acclaimed albums. “The Outsider” brings garage to the edge of psychedelism while “Till My Heart Stops Bleeding” and “I Can’t Sleep Tonight” deliver early NYC influenced punk rock’n’roll. You’ll also hear Western cinematic references in “Theme To The End Of The World” and get a bit of a CLASH vibe in “I Hate The 21st Century” as well as IGGY POP touches in “Midnight Rider.” If you didn’t get the chance to listen to “Big Bad Beautiful Noise” before then don’t miss it this time! The GODFATHERS are a rock’n’roll band with deep blues roots and you can hear this on “Poor Boy’s Son” for instance. Be warned, once you’ll hear the last song “I’m Not Your Slave” then you’ll have it stuck in mind for a couple of hours at least but it’s definitely worth the risk. /Laurent C.
