It’s good to see that Lesli Sanders is back with new music. PROPHETS OF ADDICTION are one of the last purveyors of sleaze rock’n’roll in a world where eveything is too polished. Opening track “Flavor of The Danger” and “Hollywood” both bring The DOGS D’AMOUR to mind while “Let’s Get High” has a darker 69 EYES vibe. “Slippin’ Away” and “Last One In The Bar” slow things down reminding some of TYLA‘ solo albums while “Walk The World” rocks hard with its cool guitar gimmick a la The CULT. You’ll also find a punked-up version of ROD STEWART‘s “Maggie May” and the catchy single “Superhero”. British rock influences can especially be heard in “I Want You To Know”, somewhere between The LORDS OF THE NEW CHURCH and The CLASH and “Wasted Tears” is a fine melodic punk rock tune. The album ends with “Take Me To Your Leader”, a heavy rock’n’roll songs asking “Where are the dreamers? Where are the stars?” Well, some of them probably made this album! /Laurent C.
