PARADISE CITY‘s glamorous frontman is back with a new solo album. As soon as the catchy and addictive “Baby Don’t Cry” starts, you know that Steve hasn’t changed much in his rock’n’roll recipe “STONES rock’n’roll riffs, good hooks and a Stiv Bators touch.” “Sliding Doors” has a good sleazy DOGS D’AMOUR vibe and “Whatever Happened To Back In The Day?” brings more melancholy to the party remembering the good 80s clubs and bars.. “Live For Today” is not a LORDS OF THE NEW CHURCH cover but is still a good street rock’n’roll song while “Just Like That” sounds heavier but still has enough melody to remember it. Things get lighter with “Somebody I Used To Know” and its powerpop chorus, “Forgive and Forget” sounds a bit like a mix of TOM PETTY and RAMONES and “Living In The Digital Age” is Steve rant’s at technology. One of the catchiest song on here is definitely “Stop Messing My Heart Around” and “The Best Kept Secret In Rock’n’Roll” puts an end to this new album in a QUIREBOYS way with LITTLE RICHARD piano and a cool sax solo. British sleaze rock’n’roll the way it used to be! There’s no doubt that quite a few Veglam readers will enjoy this new album. /Laurent C.
