This is the debut album of BONE HAUS from Boise (Idaho.) “Brick by Brick” offers us some powerful dark postpunk with hardcore touches while “Kiss of Death” is a crazy and angry noisy punk song. The bass line in “Rot” reminds me of FUGAZI but the song is a mix of punk rock and psyche. You’ll also hear some goth rock reminding of SIOUXSIE in “To The Knife” in which lead vocalist Rain Marie easily switches from melodic vocals to screams. Horror and psychedelic vibes mix together in “9 Volt Head” and the atmosphere gets heavier with “Silent Hill” in which the lead vocals have a bit of SINEAD O’ CONNOR in them at the end of the song. “Freedom From Life” is a quite surprising dark blues tune while “Anne Boleyn” is pure old-school hardcore punk and some early grunge influences can be heard “Lividity.” You’ll also hear some fine death rock with “Comfort on The floor”. While the album could appear as a bit messy at first, it is actually beautifully chaotic and bold. Check it out!/Laurent C.
