Dressed like a cult leader, Vancouver’s Stephen Hamm THEREMIN MAN seems to be quite a character. This new album explores science fiction and fantasy with vintage synths and theremin, of course! “Planet Earth” could be an intergalactic hit while “Talk Amongst Ourselves” mixes post-punk and vintage psychedelia. “Are You Receiving Me” and “Valentina” have a bit of BOWIE in them and sounds of nature mix with sonic landscapes, groovy bass and spoken words in “Star People.” “Marfa Lights” has a bit of LEONARD COHEN in it and “Follow” could appeal to people who loved Stranger Things’ soundtrack as well as krautrock addicts. You’ll also hear a slight glam rock touch in “Sagitarius a-Star” and in “Two Thousand Light Years From Home.” A spacey psychedelic journey! /Laurent C.
