Swiss artist SAM SNITCHY seems to enjoy kitsch aesthetics and vintage synths. Apparently he’s been playing for 25 years in clubs before coming back with this new abum out on Voodoo Rhythm Records. The repetitive structure of “First” is quite addictive before “Bored” gives us some British synth punk vibes and “Beaver Street” offers us a bit of dirty pop with a garage twist. “G Tells Shit” is an interesting mix of SUICIDE and LOU REED,”Goodboy” mixes psychedelic synths to disillusioned Brit Pop vocals and “Sue Me”has a bit of a dark spoken word atmosphere. If you like SLEAFORD MODS, then chances are you will enjoy “Wasted” and if you prefer hypnotic beats then “Vegas” is for you. Synthpop gets perverted with “Ass On My Face” and “Talking Talking” that also have a bit of JOHN COOPER CLARKE in it. Who would have thought that one of the most decadent records of the year would come from Switzerland? /Laurent C.
