There are times when we feel like giving into the call of the void and that all hope is lost and there is no other escape. “ROT” speaks to these feelings of “staying inside and growing weak with time” and that there is nothing left there to find. Becoming a shell of a lifeless being, while longing for nothing and molding in decay, this newest single from Boise deathrock outfit BONE HAUS is a dark affair that speaks honestly about giving up completely and the terror and hopelessness that is ever present when self-worth hits its lowest point.
BONE HAUS will release their highly anticipated single “ROT” on 3/15 just before their performance at Treefort Music Festival. The track is a pre-release single from the forthcoming debut full length album “In Mourning” due out 6/14.
“In Mourning” is the debut full length album from BONE HAUS and the track “ROT” is the first recording featuring Andre Maldonado on guitar since his move from bass and the first featuring the newest member of the band Allison Winkler on bass duties. Lead vocalist Rain Marie has taken on more songwriting duties on this album and drummer Joe Black has stepped up in a production role for the group during the recording process at the band’s very own Bone Home Studio. The release was mixed and mastered by Jamie Hill of Department of Energy Management Tacoma who also worked with the band on their previous release CONFOUNDEAD EP.
During their winter hibernation the group focused their energies on producing a more mature record in terms of songwriting and the narrative of the entire album. A dark affair from front to back, BONE HAUS has elevated their position as a top-tier deathrock band, drawing upon their hardcore punk and post-punk influences with a very methodical approach to themes including observations of excessive lifestyle choices, self-destruction, and post-mortem decomposition.
“In Mourning” will release on 6/14 and BONE HAUS plans to celebrate it’s release with a run of west coast dates in June and many regional shows throughout the Pacific and Intermountain West all summer long!
