CLONE is a female fronted collective of musicians from Vancouver, Canada who joined forces to play 70s glam rock in their pink garage. Looking at the cover photo brings the NEW YORK DOLLS to mind and “Smack Rabbit” sounds a bit as if The B-52’s were covering T.REX while “Miss Kiss” starts like a TURBONEGRO song and then turns into a sweet bubblegum pop tune. You’ll even get an anthemic grandiloquent ballad with “Magpie Love” and Ziggy Stardust vibes in “Set The Night On Fire.” If you’re a fan of Marc Bolan‘s groove then listen to “Queen” and songs like “Outta My Head” and “Hold Him Down” will take you to back late 70s New York with well dosed BLONDIE and RAMONES influences. There’s a bit of a John Waters and Hedwig & The Angry Inch atmosphere going on in this album. We all need a bit of parkly fun, don’t we? /Laurent C.
