AFFECTION PLACE originally started in Lyon, France in 1979 and shared stages with legendary bands such as The CRAMPS, MAGAZINE or MARQUIS DE SADE. The band officially reformed in 2019 with two original members and here they are back with an album featuring Dave Formula (MAGAZINE/VISAGE) on keyboard and production. Songs like “Harry Fabian” or “Like an Echo” definitely bring memories of the 80s French coldwave, dark moods with a lot of melodies and Peter Hook styled bass lines. You’ll also find atmospheres reminding of BAUHAUS (“Smouldering Fire”, “Give Me More”, “Crossing The Path”) and an elegant dark pop touch in an ECHO & The BUNNYMEN way (“Travelling Bird”.) The CD and digital versions are enhanced with two songs: The almost psychedelic “It’s Alright” and the dark funk “Grey Beach.” Finally, the band offers us a very cinematic moment with “In The Air.” Welcome back! /Laurent C.
