The HASBROS from Queens, NY play indie punk rock the way it used to be in the 90 : melodic guitars, vocal harmonies and good dose of melancholy. A song like “Conspiracy Theory” stands somewhere between early REM and HOT WATER MUSIC but while listening to this 12 song album, names like HUSKER DU or The LEMONHEADS also come to mind. Melodic punk rock (“Be a Bee”) sometimes turns into indie pop with “Turn It Around” or the ballad “30 Days a Night” but the songs are always with played with a 90s touch. At times the band also have their DINOSAUR JR. moments and almost goes psychedelic pop (“Change.”) The garage production suits these song quite well and you should definitely check this album out. /Laurent C.
