London’s GIRLS IN SYNTHESIS are back with a 4 track EP out on Hound Gawd! Records and their minimal black and white aesthetic has never suited them so well. “I Know No Other Way” is a piece of intense haunted postpunk and the dub version “I Know No Other Dub” will drown you into a sea of vocal effects and noisy guitars somewhere between BAUHAUS and PIL. This EP was recorded and mixed by the band themselves and it couldn’t sound any better, it’s good to hear something that doesn’t sound flat and polished. “Sinking Feeling” is raw noisy punk core with a repetitive bass bringing bands like NO MEANS NO and LARD to mind while “Against The Seething” is a dark minimal synth track with spoken word lyrics and a SUICIDE kind of mood. Far from nowadays’ postpunk revival clichés GIRLS IN SYNTHESIS are definitely one of the most interesting bands around. /Laurent C.
