5 new songs from Rob Richardson. This EP was started in early 2022, but a variety of setbacks, both medical and musical delayed the project from being finished until 2023. RICH KID EXPE$$ is now back on the track and still displays strong 80s heavy rock/glam metal roots. I thought opening song “U Never” had a bit of a synthwave vibe so I wasn’t surprised when I read that its influence was JUDAS PRIEST’s “Turbo Lover”, a song and album I’ve always liked. It definitely comes close to it. “Hard Time Lady” is influenced by early KISS, a good old 70s rock’n’roll song! “Mr. Spiffster” also has a sweet 70s flavour but more on the powerpop side while “That’s The Way” offers us some foot stomping glitter rock with a catchy chorus. Finally, “The Dotted” line closes this EP with a shot of good melodic heavy rock. 80s hard rock lovers should definitely check this EP out! /Laurent C.
