As I’ve said before, when these cats first really blew up big, I was changing diapers of my two middle children and really not going out to shows much anymore as the local dives had been taken over by the gentrifiers and their drug dealer bros and jock buddies. Not my scene, so I was aware of them, I worked at a newsstand/video rental/scratch off lotto ticket hell and saw them in like the metal mags but after my co workers got the joint shutdown by embezzling to hire string sections for their pretentious indie band recordings and shit, I could not afford to buy the steadily skyrocketing $15-20 imported glossies from the UK, so ya know I knew all my former big city peers were wild about them but I was not really diving into their catalog much cause I think I was still too heartsick about two bands of mine stupidly breaking up and just could not really appreciate my own kind of sleazy punknroll in those particulat hours, but yeah, everybody else seemed to love them and they have grown on me over time. Remember that glam band the Scarecrows? Whatever happened to them?

Kinda like a cross between Rock City Angels and Guns N Roses and maybe Jackyl…I was friends with these two smalltown metal heads named Ron and Kelly and we used to drive around blasting loud, loud music, stop at the record store, look for somebody willing to buy us beer. Kelly had about $100 worth of goofy bumper stickers on his car, I’m sure he probably got into Marilyn Manson a few years later but I was long gone by then. They were your standard smalltown “River’s Edge” dude-metal afficianadoes who loved horror movies, WASP, Ozzy, L.A. Guns, Slayer, Metallica, Charlie Manson, serial killers and Dangerous Toys. I liked em well enough but the bigger guy was always kinda punching the smaller guy which I never thought was cool at all, just how males are back in Shmoehio.
