One music genre I have been missing these last years is definitely bubblegum glam punk. By chance, Andreas (SUGAR SHOCK/Glitzine) is back with this new band and EP. Glitzine had a big influence on me when I started this website as a simple internet page and it was my main supplier of bubblegum glam punk bands so it’s great to see its creator back with some new music in his make-up bag after so many years of silence (rumours said he got abducted by glittery aliens.) Some of these songs were actually old SUGAR SHOCK ideas so if you were into the Swedish band’s sugar coated glam punk then you can jump for joy and listen to these 5 songs starting with the catchy “Candy Heart”. There’s no doubt that “Banana-split Blues” could have been on a SUGAR SHOCK demo with its cartoonish RAMONES vibe and snotty vocals. “Boy Meets Girl (On a Storyteller’s Night”) brings back fun choruses and pink punk romance and “The Love Story Of Pepsi and Coke” will make you dance to soda pop trashy punk rock. One of the most interesting songs on here is “Dear 1 + Me = Us” as it incorporates different guitar sounds, almost noisy pop in the verse with a kind of SUGAR SHOCK‘s “Annika” vibe. Getting my glitter bubblegum punk fix feels so good. Now you should get yours! /Laurent C.
