AMERICAN HEARTBREAK
Man one of the best bands that almost made it before rocknroll was basically silenced by the weaponzied for war mass media in the states was American Heartbreak. I know one of those guys makes guitars and joined Buck Cherry and one did a podcast, but not sure what became of the others, I thought Lance Boone had a great rocknroll voice, really just exquisite, and they wrote awesome power pop infused anthems with good lyrics and real feeling and they dressed kool. What more could you want? Believe it or not I was making music very much in this same spirit in that same era but just did not have the budget or social skills to keep a stable lineup for longer than a year or two sadly, but yeah, they were great. GLAMTASTIC!!! My kinda music exactly. “Superstar” is a song I played one million times and put on dozens of cassette tapes cause yep I still made ’em for people, back then. Sometimes a band just needs a push from the fan club to get back together and make another record, so what are ya waiting for? You’re probably friends with these guys on the Instagrams or Youtubes. Let ’em know if you loved their music! Personally, I thought they should have been gigantic! They had it all, in my book.

Those guys grew up in Van Wert, sorta halfway between my old record store job in Elida and our friend’s goth night on Sundays in Indiana, an older former bandmate grew up in that same town and I think his older sister and her husband used to see them play, so I was always sortof aware of them, the old hippies I worked with sorta loved that kinda thing, the old old school rebellious rocknroll on the Midnight Special. I would not be a bit surprised if Brownsville Station shopped at that record store probably way before my time, cause there wan’t much else out there, even ten or twenty years later but bean fields, silos, railroad tracks, corn, and truck stops, and it’s funny but I kinda see summa my yeeehaw old friends in their big cheesy grins. There’s a particular look in that part of the country. I remember my older record collecting, knew everybody in Ann Arbor, replacement drummer always talking about Cub Coda and Henry Weck. Henry Weck produced Blackfoot’s “Train Train” which was a perpetual staple of hick radio when we wre kids. Our greasy kid band had a loyal tristate area cult following, our original bassist was a popular pretty boy DJ, the flash guitarist had chicks driving all the way from Misourri to wait in line to sleep with him. I knew a lotta kids, cause I worked at the rural record store, and had been kicked outta three local schools-primarily for “chronic dress code violations”, was currently dating girls from five different school districts, some of them would show, but mostly it was all my co workers from the pizza place, a few mechanics and redneck friends of the jock bassplayer, some were stoner metalheads in army surplus jackets from Wapakoneta, there were some goths from Ft. Wayne, and like two or maybe three skinheads from the Catholic school, I think they were temporary skinheads, more like sidekicks of the original drummer; a few party preppies, you know, like “Animal House” people; some were bikers who are mostly dead or in jail now or on probation cause they got on the crack and had crazy standoffs with the swat teams and shit. They used to accompany us to our performaces, not really as road crew but more like bodyguards, cause sometimes other biker clubs who’d come to see us play on bills with country bands, or thrash metal bands, would have problems with my sorta gothic androgyny, back then. There is still a brand that goes by that name Brownsville Station probably but Cub Koda died like decades ago and there’s like five other dead former members now. We were also “School Punks” and thought of ourselves as Kings Of The Party, too. We played a lot of grits in the sticks type keggers and bonfire jams for people who were really into the Brownsville Station. The midwest sucks hard, but the rebellious “let’s get the hell outta here” rule breakin’ motherfuckers were always my kinda people. Still are!

By the time the social engineers had mostly taken disobedient, hedonistic rocknroll off the airwaves replacing it with fake alternative and choreographed boybands, real untamed rocknroll was harder to find in the sticks, even the punkque bands in the medium sized collegetowns were mostly all fratboys and jock dick college types, cultural tourists and squares flirting with Warped Fest cargo shorts culture for a few years before returning to the sports bar with their rightwing parents. Up in Canada, though, there were still some rock bands. I liked Black Halos cause they reminded me of the Deadboys, the Lords, the Hangmen and me. One of those guys even went on to work with a couple of Hanoi Rockers and our favorite Canadian rockstar, the legendary CHRIS BARRY of PILLBOX fame. Wow, right?! Somehow, even in that post grunge shitty Dizneyfied slut puppet techno era, they did really well, made major league slick bigtime full sounding records and even had a following! Of course, I have no idea how they did it or else I woulda done it, too. We both have a song called “Damaged Goods”. Mine aint even on youtubes. I think one important element is sticking together. I’m up early with my kid who’s a night owl watching cartoons on youtubes. Nobody likes cleaning up cat vomit first thing in the morning before coffee. Things have been hard here in the superinflation, lotta extra pressure on the family to work harder for unreasonable rich people, secure their approval even when they are wrong, use less heat, minimize groceries, always be on guarded high alert vigilance. I stopped smoking after forty years, but still have the cravings like a motherfucker, because the stress is insane. Summa my family are having mental health crisises, and other health problems, summa my family are AWOL/MIA. The Big Machine has done a real whizbang job dividing the population with it’s non stop partisan propaganda. Jimmy Dore and Joe Rogan have both been coping with the betrayal of lifelong friends who smeared and attacked them for knowing about the real science cause they interviewed real scientists, before phrama funded neo conned muppets like Bill Maher and Jon Stewart-now, Maher and Stewart are even walking back summa their wrongheaded assertions, and pushing back against the LCD dummy narratives. I can identify with what Dore and Rogan are struggling with, cause I’ve had longtime associates and loved ones abandon me, some of ’em for years now, cause I never bought in to the establishment’s official narratives. I don’t speak commercials. The biggest tool employed by the oligarchs is their non-stop division media campaigns, seperating people. I aint a joiner and am still runnin’ against the wind. If you work forty hours a week for minimum wage you can not rent a one bedroom apartment anywhere in this country now, and fake identity puppets like WEF marrionette Synema are deployed by the oligarchs to cancel a fight for fifteen and the landlordly safespace college shitlibs all wave their happy flags and say she’s some kinda achievement for gender pro nouns and supporting Zelensky. That’s how effective the college fauxwoke shit has been. Middle class people care more about worshipping AOC or the Clintons or Obamas, than they do about any of us slaves at the bottom of their pyramid scheme. Poor people have no rights in tis country, they just want us all to die suddenly, it’s sad. I could say a lotta things about David Crosby. Exceptional harmony singer if that’s your thing. Kinda seemed like some controlled establishment celebrity mouthpiece at the end of his life rather than any kind of real hippie, antiwar, do your own thing pothead. I appreciated him being outspoken against the Bush administration but then they jumped the shark under Obama. I don’t trust Russell Brand either, but he’s been saying more truthful stuff than C, S, N & Y, who they trot out like Obama to push establishment narratives. Very sad. I liked the lyric “we are stardust, we are golden and we’ve got to get ourselves back to the garden” that Joni Mitchell wrote, and a couple songs by the Byrds, but was shocked by summa the showbiz revelations in the Laurel Canyon book “Weird Scenes Inside The Goldmine” about how many of the major label hippie bands had high ranking parents in the military industrial complex. I lived up in the Canyon for a brief time with a house full of crazies in the early nineties and there was still spooky shit goin’ on up there. His former bandmates hated him, maybe because of his addiction issues, I know what that’s like. I’ve been feeling like Sebastian Bach everytime I’ve reached out to my teenage ragers when ever our hometown friends die. I’m still gettin’ the permanent cold shoulder from all those Dum Dum Boys I used to know. It’s tough. Only thing more hated than a poor motherfucker in this country is a poor motherfucker with a big mouth who don’t obey his tv.

I got some household chores I’ll get around to probably, but the semi-steady odd jobs gig has kinda dried up since the former boss hired a more qualified helper. Only emails are from Sunglasses Hut and Glenn Greenwald’s System Update. A dear to my heart lady I used to keep in touch with, has been moved into the hospice with bad news diagnosis. Another old pal has gone off the rails of the crazy train so I had to wave bye bye from afar to him, sadly. My world gets smaller as this culture gets grislier. I’m not into the backstab competition, the most toys ratrace, the everybody on the hustle, lie to your face, fake friends bullshittery. I’m a lone wolf. Me n my old lady have been together over 20 years, dunno what is gonna happen next, but these times are full of the divisive and unexpected-mutiny, treachery, the pervasive influence of unreliable predators and unknowns. I’m hunkered down with my tightknir family here and kinda bracing for the worst. I’ll be honest here, my brothers and sisters and friends of the revolution, I’m a little lost in this big old wintertime world of lies for war and so much unprecedented sudden death.

Anybody who speaks out under fascism becomes a target of the establishment’s protectors and guardians of the status quo. I like what John Dissed says about leaderless resistance, we all do our bit and then go do something else. Might be YOUR TURN to start broadcasting from a real working class, antiwar, antisocial glamarchist, anti corporate police state perspective. Everybody’s gotta do their part for a little while, my time on the soapbox here in nearing it’s end.
