Unmasked!

The reactions and feedback to this new version of the website have been very good, and I can only admit that it makes me glad! Quite a few people also told me that they really enjoyed Thomaxe’s writings about New York, so it’s all very encouraging!
2012 is almost over and when I think about it, it was quite a busy year for me on a musical level considering the fact that I didn’t really know what to expect… I played 35 gigs (17 with Ricky Rat, 16 with Kevin K and 2 as a lead singer with The Dagger Dates, a new and quite interesting experience for the drummer I am.) I also recorded with Sugar Sugaar (the debut EP will be available in January) and I hope that this will take us to the stage in 2013.SugarSEP
Playing with so many different people is also a new thing to me as I’ve always been a one-band man (… and thank God I’ve never been a one-man band!), but I’ve enjoyed it and it seems like I’ll keep on doing this as long as I manage to do it timewise. There’s a quote from Velvet Goldmine that says “”Rock and roll is a prostitute. It should be tarted up, performed”, so I can probably be a rock’n’roll whore, right?
makeuptobreakupSpeaking of tarted up rock’n’roll, I’ve just finished reading “Makeup To Breakup“, the Peter Criss book. KISS is the band that got me into rock’n’roll ; as far as I can remember, my bedroom walls were decorated with Spiderman, Batman, Hulk,… And KISS posters! It’s amazing how many people in the rock world got into music through KISS, it’s all their fault as my friend Ricky Rat would say! Peter Criss was my favourite member when I was a kid, so I had to read his autobiography. From his childhood in Brooklyn, learning drums with Jerry Nolan (funny to see that two of my all time favourite drummers were actually best friends!) in order to escape the tough NYC street life, to his dream becoming reality with KISS and the downfall of everything, Peter tells us everything in detail and unveils the dark side of KISS. The only problem I have with this book is that now I’m not sure if I want to see the band again (at least not without Peter & Ace!)… Anyway, this is a must read if you’re a fan, or if you just like to read rock’n’roll books. Ask Father Christmas to bring it to you!
Have a great end of the year and even a better start of the new one just to prove those Mayans wrong!
